剧情简介 《BBC地平线:精神变态病因调查》是2017年的一部纪录片。由Uta Frith联合主演的电影BBC地平线:精神变态病因调查，又名Horizon:What Makes A Psychopath?、精神变态病因调查。Psychopaths have long captured the public imagination. Painted as charismatic, violent predators lacking in all empathy, they provide intrigue and horror in equal measure. But what precisely is a psychopath? What is it that drives them to cause harm, even kill? And can they ever be cured? Presented by psychologist Professor Uta Frith, this is an in-depth exploration of the psychopathic mind - including one of the most notorious of all, the moors murderer Ian Brady. Through an on-going correspondence between the Horizon team and Brady, the film features some of the very last letters he wrote. The film also features a series of candid interviews with prison inmates who not only describe their crimes but why they think they committed them. Horizon explores not only how each individual's crimes were shaped by their own life experiences, but also giving an insight in to how these people think and behave. Working with the world's experts in the field, the film sheds light on the biological, psychological and environmental influences that shape a psychopath. The programme also looks to the future, taking in groundbreaking research that suggests a life time of incarceration is not the only option to manage violent and dangerous psychopaths.

Cosmos42 说：如何形成的，基因和环境共同养成。如何识别，这个非常难，一部分看起来和正常人一样，甚至比正常人还要有魅力，而且还可能学会了伪装。如何治疗，基本不可能改变性格，只能改变行为，通过药物控制行为，心理治疗可能效果不大。oak bridge那个群体实验出来的人犯罪率更高，精神变态者在群体中收集信息学会撒谎。mendota的针对青少年的奖励计划有效，说明干预越早越好。最后主持人说的那句也许对于精神变态最好的方式是把他们关起来，不寒而栗。真要有那么个仪器，每个人出生以后就筛选大脑，有变态倾向的就关起来或清除，那就是在重复历史了。
Artery 说：精神变态应该是心里问题吧，最后导致各种杀人和犯罪，这些人太可恨了。精神病，反社会人格，缺少同情心，麻木冷漠，不遵守规则，没有自制力，无法分辨惊恐表情，没有社交能力，没有朋友，做事不计后果，不具备情感共鸣的能力，也不关心他人是否痛苦与受难。童年成长畸形，受虐爱，见过恐怖的事等留下阴影完成不健全人格，为以后精神变态甚至犯罪埋下伏笔。我觉得后天环境因素影响很大，起决定性作用。
莱克尔博德 说：期待和看到不一致，想看到的是变态型人格形成的原因，以及相应的背景故事，看到的却是心理学家的一层层的分析，有些枯燥。那些变态杀人狂，有些酷，为自己而活，是由衷地自恋。当然，也有些可怜，他们说被上帝遗忘的部分。法律就像是一张蜘蛛网，虽然可以抓到一些苍蝇蚊子，马蜂和蝗虫却可以顺利通过。
